I liked the writing style in Shadowrun Returns, and it's pretty much the same in Dragonfall, but in the original the story was just mediocre and with no "proper" companions to tag along on your quest, it felt very lonely. Let's start with the biggest improvement over the original, the writing. With Shadowrun: Dragonfall, Harebrained Schemes upped the ante and decided to improve on pretty much everything, and the final product is fantastic! I played Shadowrun Returns earlier this year and left with mixed feelings - I loved the world building and art design, and the combat was enjoyable, but I thought the story was forgettable and the surrounding characters somewhat drab.
